Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his readiness to represent the people of Adamawa North Senatorial District at the National Assembly in 2027, saying he would take the interests and concerns of the people to Abuja with courage and responsibility.
Governor Fintiri stated this on Tuesday, August 11, when he received a delegation of political, traditional, religious and community leaders from Northern Adamawa who visited him to discuss their concerns and expectations for the future.
The meeting comes amid growing calls from stakeholders in the northern senatorial district for the governor to seek election to the Senate in 2027. A separate meeting involving Northern Adamawa senior stakeholders also centred on calls for Fintiri to provide representation for the zone at the National Assembly.
Fintiri expressed appreciation to the delegation for the confidence they have placed in his leadership and for their call for him to serve the senatorial district after completing his tenure as governor.
He said his experience in governance would position him to effectively articulate the needs of Northern Adamawa at the federal level if given the mandate by the people.
The governor assured the stakeholders that he would approach the responsibility with a clear understanding of the challenges facing the people, while ensuring that their voice, interests and development priorities receive adequate attention at the National Assembly.
The engagement further underscores the increasing political activity surrounding the 2027 elections in Adamawa North, with supporters and community leaders increasingly positioning Governor Fintiri as a potential successor to the current representation of the district.
Fintiri said the confidence expressed by the delegation would strengthen his commitment to the political journey ahead, while pledging to remain responsive to the aspirations of the people of Northern Adamawa.
